About the SAR Library

The SAR Library maintains a non-circulating collection for genealogy and American Revolutionary War history & military records. It is located at 1000 South Fourth Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40203.
LIBRARY STAFF CANNOT RESPOND TO GENEALOGICAL QUERIES. Photocopies of specifically requested pages may be obtained for a fee. There is a minimum charge of $3.00 for this service.

The Library Collection includes:
Family Genealogies
State & County History and Vital Statistics (strong in New England Records)
Federal Census Records
(complete through the year 1860 for every state; some records through 1920)
Revolutionary War Pension Applications
Special George Washington Collection (containing books, journal articles & manuscripts)

Monday - Friday
9:30 am - 4:30 pm (Eastern)

Patrons planning to travel to Louisville should phone ahead to verify
that the library will be open on their selected dates.
